| Background
The objective
of document management program is to fully integrate the acquisition
process including the printing and mailing services with operations
of the entire company. A contract management process should
ensure the promises a company is making to deliver full printing
services and its obligations are always visible to key corporate
decision makers and that top management fully understands
that the products will be acceptable to meet corporate needs
at consistent and competitive prices. These guidelines are
designed to provide consulting services to companies who acquire
all types of printing and letter shop services and are seeking
ways to better achieve program results, reduce costs, and
ensure effective communication and internal control over their
operations.
A survey
guideline may be applied to assess effectiveness of procuring
these services under an existing contract management system.
Also, it may be used to identify management problems in the
printing and publishing operations, identify opportunities
for reforming or simplifying procedures, and make recommendations
to reduce cost and streamline the corporate printing process
for acquiring these services. This survey is not an audit,
but it will provide consulting advice on the current organization
and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the management
system for procuring printing and publishing services.
